Loxone is not only a smart home system, but also a fully featured alarm system. The big difference compared to many classic systems: the alarm functions aren’t a separate box on the wall, but are integrated directly into your entire smart home – including lighting, shading, audio, access control, and the app.

Multi-level alarm concept

Loxone works with multiple alarm levels depending on the situation:

  • Silent alarm – notification to your smartphone, e.g., in case of unusual motion or an unexpected window opening.
  • Audible alarm – sirens, speakers, or defined tones are triggered in the house.
  • Visual alarm – lighting and shading are included, e.g., flashing lights or roller shutters opening.

This lets you decide flexibly how “loud” your system should respond.

Using existing sensors

Instead of installing everything twice for an alarm system, Loxone uses the components that are already in place anyway:

  • Presence and motion detectors
  • Door and window sensors
  • Window contacts used for shading
  • Access systems such as NFC, code, keypad, or transponder

This saves hardware and costs and reduces potential sources of error.

Presence simulation & burglary protection

Loxone can make your home look occupied even when nobody is there:

  • Lights turn on and off at typical times
  • Roller shutters go up and down as usual
  • Combined with audio, music or radio can be played

This deters many opportunistic burglars before anything even happens.

Alarm system, access control & smart home in one system

Unlike many isolated solutions where the alarm system, access, and smart home are separate worlds, with Loxone everything runs in one system:

  • One app for alarm, lighting, heating, access, and more
  • The same ease of use on switch, tablet, and smartphone
  • Scenes can control all areas at once, e.g. “Leave home”: arm alarm, lights off, lower temperature, shutters down

Push notifications & remote access

In the event of an alarm, you’re informed immediately:

  • Push notifications directly to your smartphone
  • Overview of which sensors were triggered
  • Option to check cameras (if available) or initiate measures
